Build a Perfect Finish with MRP Primers, Clears & Thinners

MRP’s system is more than just colour coats. Start with MRP primers for a bitey, ultra-smooth surface that grips to plastic, resin and metal. Lock in your work with crystal-clear gloss, satin or matt varnishes, then clean up with dedicated MRP thinners and cleaners.

Whether you’re polishing a high-gloss automotive finish or a dead-flat, combat-weary aircraft, the MRP system gives you full control from first coat to final clear.

How to Get the Best from MRP Lacquer Paints

Do MRP paints need thinning?

MRP lacquers are pre-thinned and ready to spray straight from the bottle. For very fine work you can add a little MRP thinner, but most users find the stock consistency ideal for general coverage and detail spraying.

What airbrush pressure works best?

Many modelers prefer spraying MRP around low to medium pressures, adjusting to suit nozzle size, distance and temperature. Always test on a scrap model to dial in what works best with your setup.

Surface prep & primers

For the strongest adhesion, lightly clean your model, then apply MRP primer. It levels beautifully, grips plastic and resin and creates the perfect base for colour coats and metallics.

Drying time & masking

MRP dries very fast in thin coats. You can usually handle and mask over the paint relatively quickly, but always allow adequate curing time—especially over large areas or heavy coats.

Safety & clean-up

As with all solvent-based lacquers, use MRP in a well-ventilated area or spray booth and wear appropriate respiratory protection. Clean your airbrush with MRP thinner or cleaner and follow the safety guidance on the product labels.

What Makes MRP Lacquers Different

MRP paints atomise extremely finely, making them ideal for glass-smooth coats, freehand camouflage patterns and high-gloss automotive finishes. Their rapid drying time allows for quick masking, fast progress and layered weathering techniques. More in-depth guides and step-by-step tutorials will be added soon as our community grows.
